This year has been crazy, so much has happened in such a short time and with that I feel like it’s the right time to take stock of everything in your life and literally Marie Kondo everything. *if it does not spark joy it must go*.
I’ve decided to break up my capsule wardrobes this year by occasion/aesthetic because in truth I find it incredibly difficult to delineate my wardrobe into one style so I’ve decided to reflect that in a capsule wardrobe per style/aesthetic. The first capsule wardrobe is the casual capsule wardrobe. This is honestly, what I live in most of the time because it’s all so easy to just throw on together and walk out the door with minimal thought,
The core of this capsule wardrobe is really good denim. I truly believe that a perfectly fitted pair of jeans is something everyone cannot live without. You can have as many pairs of jeans that you wish, but a capsule wardrobe would have one pair of blue jeans you can’t live without and one pair of either black or white denim (this is really up to your personally style). With these two items you can put together so many different outfits and be either casual or ready to hit up a trendy restuarant.
In a casual capsule wardrobe, comfort as well as ease are paramount and nothing is easier or more comfortable that a plain tee. Basic solid colour tee shirts are life. You can layer them, wear them alone, dress them up with some slacks or down with some jeans. They can’t be beat. My favourites are the Uniqlo Women’s Cotton Crew Necks and the Aritzia Sunday Best Little Ribbed T-Shirt. Once you find a t-shirt that you like and fits you well, but it in every colour.
I also think a comfy LBD is another key piece in the casual capsule wardrobe. Worn with white sneakers and either a leather or denim jacket *chef’s kiss* perfection. They are so easy to just throw on, and immediately look cute!
Another piece which I think fits nicely into a casual capsule wardrobe is a white crewneck sweater. It’s a lovely piece to wear on casual days with a pair of jeans or can be paired with leather pants or a leather skirt for a more dressed up look..
With the 90’s coming back into fashion, it’s re-solidified the want/need to have thin strapped and ribbed tank tops around to wear with slouchy mom jeans or layered underneath sweatshirts and knits.
The final piece to round out the ultimate casual capsule collection are a pair of white tennis shoes (duh). They go with everything and are so easy to throw on and head out the door.
