Summer is soon approaching as heralded by the mid-season sales on Spring/Summer ’18 styles and the twittering of sales associates talking about pre-fall launches! I honestly cannot wait. I love summer in Toronto, I personally think that it’s the perfect weather. It warm, humid and just balmy. I do find however, I am a loner in this category with many of my fellow Ontario residents complaining about the heat and humidity… they have clearly never walked through Singapore in the middle of July. THAT is heat and humidity x10000.
Each and every year I find myself dreaming of wistful summer days, warm summer nights and what exactly I will be wearing for each and every occasion.
The colour palette has remained mostly the same throughout the last few years with lots of denim, robins egg blue, muted pink and crisp whites. This year I have stuck with my classic colour palette but have added in soft yellows, gingham and simple patterns.
Throughout the summer I always find myself adding a few new pieces of poplin shirting and broderie angalise to my wardrobe as I find these are the pieces I always always always reach for. I’ve noticed that this year I’ve been seriously lusting after eyelet dresses and shirts, anything with that detailing and it’s in my shopping cart. Eyelet/Brodie Anglaise is pretty much everything I think of when I imagine what a dreamy summer outfit would consist of.
A new addition to my musings of a summer wardrobe is floral summer dresses (ok shocker I know but seriously I’m a strict shorts and t-shirt girl usually). I think with the mainstream popularity of Zimmerman and the many resulting inspired silhouettes being everywhere I’ve really started to fall for the bohemianesque dress.
Another new addition to my musings is matched sets. I’ve been absolutely loving the ones from For Love & Lemons! They are a fun variation on the idea of a romper.
What are you guys looking forward to about summer fashion?
xoxo Steph
