Good Morning Everyone!
It’s almost the start of a new season. Fall always holds the promise of new beginnings and fresh starts. I like to use the beginning of each season to re evaluate my wardrobe and style. My style does change a little season-to-season. In summer I tend to be a little more boho, in the fall it trends more preppy collegiate, winter is more edgy and spring is super feminine. Of course, my style does change with my mood as well, but overall each season has a distinct capsule wardrobe and vision. Because I cycle through so many different styles throughout but keep a relatively small wardrobe. I wanted to share some tips and tricks with you all, about how to go about changing your style and starting a plan to change your style. There will be a second post about how to take your wardrobe and add a few pieces to it, if you don’t want to completely change your wardrobe but have a new look.
The first step is to figure out what style you are gravitating towards. I suggest browsing through Pinterest and Instagram to get some ideas and see if there is a general theme to the outfits you are being drawn to.
Then go through your wardrobe and see what pieces you have that would be similar to those found on your Pinterest board/ IG saves. This will give you a foundation to figure out what you have and what you might need to acquire to fill out your wardrobes new aesthetic.
Now comes the fun part, shopping!
There’s two ways to go about this: the first, diving headfirst and committing to a new wardrobe. The second, starting slow.
The approach you take will depend on your budget, your level of commitment and also how much time you want to spend on redoing your style.
No matter which of the two options you are going to take, there are going to be a few key pieces that will stand out across your saved outfits. Start with acquiring those first. They are the pieces that will change your wardrobes style dramatically and kickstart your new style journey. These pieces are going to be things like jackets, a pair of pants/trousers etc. The big showy pieces that even paired with your existing basics are going to match your desired aesthetic.
That’s really all there is to it!
xoxo S
