I’ve been social distancing for well over a month now and there are some major life lessons I’ve learned which I wanted to share just incase you had a spare moment or two to read them.
Never Say No to a Social Gatherings
Being stuck inside has changed my perspective on being social, while I haven’t been supremely social for the last two years because of my mom having cancer (which actually was a mini trial run for social distancing) once all this is over and everyone is in the clear it’s time to actually start acting my own age by going out, seeing people for dinners and (gasp) having weekend plans… at least until the snow and freezing cold weather kick in then I may change my tune.
Have at Least Two Months of Living Expenses Saved
You never know when something might happen that will throw your life and financial stability for a loop. Whether it’s a global pandemic, a move, sudden job loss etc. it’s always better to be prepared.
If You Like it Buy it in Every Colour
By this I really just mean, if you have a favourite perfume, sweater, moisturizer etc. it never ever hurts to have a backup. During this pandemic our supply chain has been compromised and it’s taught me to always have enough extra of something to tide me over incase of delays. I had to learn this lesson the hard way by both my Sephora and my Nespresso shipments experiencing delays.
Keep Your Pantry Stocked
You don’t need to go over board and have a full on Costco for your pantry, but ensuring you have all your favourite shelf stable staples (say that five times fast) on hand just incase you can’t go to the grocery store or there is a food shortage (especially if you have a dietary restriction or are eating a specific way) gives you that added comfort and safety net just incase.
Have Some Things to Make Staying at Home More Interesting
Some of us (ME) may find it easier to stay at home, others may not and having a few bits and bobs stored to help pass the time (beyond Netflix) definitely help. Don’t be like me and order a loom off of Amazon last minute… or be like me… idk.
Ankle Weights Are Not Sufficient Gym Equipment
I personally, have been suffering from a lack of at home gym equipment, which hindsight being 20/20 wish I had just slowly picked up bits here and there over the years. I do have some ankle weights currently at home but they aren’t exactly enough for two months of exclusively home workouts and there’s only so many runs a person can go on while avoiding other humans like the plague (because they may quite literally have plague without knowing) because one misses the squat rack.
