For those of us who strive to keep a healthy glow all year round but live in climates that have horrendous winters Self Tanner is an easy and relatively safe (the horror of a not blended tan) way to keep up a little bit of colour lest we blind people with the reflection off of our thighs. I seriously get so pale sometimes I glow… now for those that choose to keep their naturally fair complexion that is 100% amazing as well. I personally think that on me with my dark dark hair I look best with a light-medium to medium tan. Having a slight tan prevents my hair from washing me out. Throughout the years that I have been self tanning I’ve tried many many different formulas and at one time or another have sworn that the one that I was currently using was the holy grail! So if you are curious about what self- tanners I like then keep reading!
Vita Liberata Invisi Foaming Tanning Water
This is probably the best invention on earth because you don’t stain anything!!!!!
Pro: Massive plus being able to tan at anytime of the day without fear of transferring.
Con: It doesn’t have a guide so you really need to take your time on the application to make sure you are perfectly blended.
Vita Liberata Body Blur Instant HD Skin Finish
For a temporary tan that washes off this stuff is amazing! It blurs imperfections and gives you that JLO GLOW!
Pro: Your skin looks flawless
Con: If it’s a hot summer day and you are prone to sweating this may transfer or move around.
Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week TanÂ
If you are very committed to keeping up a flawless tan all year round with no time off this is the tan for you!
Pro: The longest wear time and the most even fading of any of the self-tanners
Con: The price tag and application process to get optimal results. This is definitely a pricey self-tanner especially when you consider that they recommend you apply 2-3 coats within a 24 hour time period.
St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing MousseÂ
Straightforward, no fuss tanning. This is the first self-tanner I ever used and it’s pretty legit. To get a dark application I apply one coat and let sit for 5 minutes, then apply a second coat over top.
Pro: Ease of blending and colour.
Con: Smell… yup this self-tanner leaves your skin with a distinct scent on your skin for 24 hours.
St. Tropez Self Tan Dark Tanning MousseÂ
This is a really good green based tanning mousse that is a decent dupe for the Bondi Sands Dark Mousse and the Loving Tan Dark Mousse.
Pro: Colour. One coat of the Dark Tanning Mousse turns into the same colour as two coats of the original tanning mousse.
Con: This stains and transfers 10x worse than any other self-tanner.
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Classic Everday Body Lotion
THIS STUFF WORKS HOLY. One application left on for part of the day and then all night = results! This stuff is seriously amazing and a great way to either start a tan or maintain your tan.
Pro: This gradual tanner has results within the first 24 hours which is so so so different than others. With other gradual tanners, you need to wait for 3ish applications before you notice a colour change.
Con: You always have a slight lingering smell of self-tan.
Bondi Sands Express 1 Hour Express Self- Tanning FoamÂ
Tan faster, darker and better.
Pro: 1 Hour for a medium tan. 3 hours for a dark tan. Super easy to apply with a pleasant coconut scent.
Con: It fades a little patchy which makes reapplication slightly difficult without a full exfoliation.
Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse Ultra Dark
Between Loving Tan and Bondi Sands it’s pretty much a toss up between which one is the best because they are both so so good.
Pro: The darkest self-tanner I’ve ever tried. If I’m going to self tan, I want to get close to or as dark as I get sitting outside in the sun or else why bother (lol I know but I’m about bang for my buck).
Con: It’s so popular that it is always sold out on their website and there aren’t other retailers that sell it.
That’s all the self-tanners that I’ve tried so far but I am constantly trying new ones so maybe I’ll start doing reviews?!?!
xoxo Steph
