Peek-a-Boo Lace

My class schedule while having both Monday and Friday off can be a blessing and a curse. Blessing, no class Monday’s or Fridays; curse, extensive amounts of class Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday are my lightest days in terms of class hours having a two-hour lecture from 10:30 – 12:30 and an hour and a half lecture after until 2. After having driven with my dad back to my university town in the morning I looked mildly like I had just rolled out of bed. It’s was a fairly accurate description of how I felt if you replaced the bed with a car seat and roll with trudged at 6am.

Knowing I had a break after class before meetings started I took the opportunity to clean myself up. With leftover turkey ingested, and a shower later I was ready to take on my outfit. That night I had my weekly sorority meetings and the executive meeting for the fashion show I am on the team for, I felt that it was my obligation to look like a functioning human with a slight interest in fashion.

One of my favourite Instagram accounts to follow at the moment is @pursenboots, in mind she is best known for pairing Daft Bird scoop necks with Luv AJ or Bagatiba jewellery and For Love and Lemon intimates. I don’t own a daft bird scoop neck but I improvised with a Ralph Lauren Button Down, my prized For Love and Lemons Lace bra-lette, and a few Bagatiba Layers. No Mom I did not wear the shirt out to my meetings with THAT many buttons undone. I actually just wore it with the top 3 buttons undone (where a normal v-neck would rest). To finish off the look I slipped into my trusted BDG high-waisted black jeans, a pair of heeled Sam Edelman booties, a black leather jacket and tucked only half of my oxford into the waistband.

I felt pretty good strutting (I strut, everyone can attest. Steph does not simply walk don’t know why or how it happened but it is what it is) around campus, I got compliments, a good leg workout and a confidence boost.

I’m sometimes hesitant to go out on a limb with what I wear on campus, everyone sticks to the same key pieces; denim, leggings, Uggs and sweaters. Wearing an oxford might seem too preppy or heels too high maintenance but I did it and now that I’ve done it once I know next time I won’t give it a second thought.
