This fall season one of my biggest style inspirations from TV is Cheryl Blossom, the cast of Riverdale overall has the best wardrobe I’ve seen since Blair Waldorf (forever my style icon). What I love about her style is the rich colours, prints and textures that are combined with simple silhouettes. While Cheryl wears way more red than I do, I tried to recreate an outfit that took cues some of my favourite looks in season 1.
I kept my top simple but weather appropriate in a basic lightweight turtleneck, warm enough to get me through the chilly Toronto morning layered with a bomber jacket but cool enough in case the weather changed. My gingham skirt was a nod to Cheryl’s gingham pants, while the ruffles elevated this simple pencil skirt with a girly touch.
To finish off my look and to give it a schoolgirl touch, I added a bow as a cheeky nod to preppy high school style.
Going into Toronto at any time of day, particularly for breakfast or brunch, always comes with the threat of walking. In stead of wearing heels as Cheryl normally does throughout the show, I opted for the much more practical flat Chelsea boot. As expected we did end up walking around a fair bit as we went up to Bloor street to shop a little bit before going to a couple open houses (which required walking UP HILL… so pleased with my flat shoe decision). My one complaint with these shoes is that over the course of my wearing them they get SUPER uncomfortable because they rub and pinch my heels. This could be because they are potentially half a size too small or the shape of the shoe isn’t the best for my feet. As I wear them more throughout the season I will let you know if this issue changes.
