How I Look “Put Together” in a Hurry

Good morning everyone!

Today’s blog post is all about looking put together. While it might not be the most top of mind topic due to the current COVID situation and everyone spending a lot more time at home than normal… I thought that this would be the perfect time to take you guys through how I try to look put together whenever I leave the house.

Step 1: I also believe in a fresh base: clean hair, shower, etc.

I’m very very jealous of you girls who can go a few days between hair washes or can use dry shampoo, I straight up cannot use dry shampoo. I can’t stand the texture and I have yet to find a dry shampoo that doesn’t break me out horribly. So first things first, I shower, make sure my hair is clean etc.

Step 2: Clothes

I firmly firmly firmly believe in having a few key outfits that you can throw on in a hurry and know they’ll look good. For me it’s a variation on jeans and a t-shirt or jeans and a sweater. Especially when I’m running late, I don’t want to be wasting a lot of time picking an outfit, so it helps to have some ideas about what looks good together and what you know will work for you in a pinch.

Step 3: Accessories

I’m a big fan of the simple route, especially when you are running out the door, you don’t want to be trying to match your outfit to a whole bunch of different pieces. What I tend to do, is break my accessories down into everyday pieces, statement pieces, going out pieces. etc. The everyday stuff is usually a dainty necklace or two, the earrings I never take off and my favourite rings du jour. Same goes for bags, I have one or two bags that will match every single “day” outfit that I can just grab and go if need be.

Step 4: Shoes

Here’s where it gets really technical: Spring/Summer – White Tennis Shoes and Fall/Winter – Combat Boots.

I’m telling you, when you need to look like you’ve planned your outfit, but didn’t actually have time to plan your outfit, pick one pair of shoes per season that you can throw on with anything and that’s it.

Step 5: Outwear

Again with the shoes, pick one or two pieces per season that you can grab and go and know they’ll match with any outfit.
