Good Afternoon Everyone,
We are now fairly far along in my year of lipstick no buy and am pleased to say that as of late, I’ve actually started to use more lipsticks! I’ve been filming a lot more frequently and thus have been doing my makeup more which in combination to my infrequent excursions out have gotten me to a level of wearing makeup not seen since 2018. It’s not every single day, but I have made a point to focus on a few lipsticks and am diligently working on them for a month or two and then cycle them out in favour of something more seasonal. I have yet to finish up anything other than lip balm yet, but I’ve made a dent so I feel like it’s justified for a girl to dream about her future makeup purchases.
The first thing into my cart is Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk set. I have been dreaming about this product and I think I’ve really hit my stride in wearing more pinky colours, so I’m hopeful that this will be another perfect my lips but better shade.
The second product is another of my Belle Nudestix Lip Pencils, this is my absolute favourite everyday lip colour and I will definitely be need a new one to replace it.
I also find myself wanting to replenish my KVD beauty liquid lips (ugh), I don’t love the company in general… the founder (who is thankfully no longer involved) has questionable (in my opinion) ideologies (she’s really trying to bring all of the 1800s – formerly eradicated diseases and kind – back). So despite that, I’ve drawn such a hard line with the band for so long that I’m now iffy. If I can find good dupes I will definitely be getting those instead.
I also really want to try out the Fenty beauty glosses, I’ve heard such good things and have always meant to pick one up but before I could I decided on this no buy year. So it goes. I’m hoping that by the time my no buy is up there be a holiday set still in stock! Fingers crossed!
That (maybe surprisingly) is it for my list! As I was writing this out I was a little surprised by how few products I actually was genuinely really interested in picking up. In part, I think it’s because I’ve barely put a dent in my current collection and also because I’ve realized how few lip products I really need to fulfill my requirements. I’ve been having really great luck with my two go-to statement lips, and have found a few mid-tone nude colours that work with everything, so I think I maybe have found all it need. Who knows. This may change by the end of the year, or in a few years when the collection is much smaller, but for now I’m happy getting my collection down to some tried and true favourites.
